COOKIE POLICY

Last updated: 17 Oct 2019

This policy applies to our use of "cookies" in connection with www.adancorporate.com (the "Website"). This cookie policy explains what cookies are and how we use them on our website. You should read this policy so you can understand what type of cookies we use, the information we collect using the cookies and how that information is used. By using our website you are agreeing that we can use cookies in accordance with this policy.

Protecting our customers' data is at the heart of everything we do at Adan and protecting your information is no exception. We use cookies on our Websites to help make your visits more effective so we'd like to explain more about how and why we use them. By continuing to browse our Websites without adjusting your browser settings to block cookies (for information about how to do this please see below Accept or Block Cookies), you are agreeing to our use of cookies.

At Adan, we only use cookies to monitor the performance of our website and to improve user experience. If you choose not to accept our cookies, some of the features of our site may not work as well as we intend.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer, smartphone or other device when you access the internet that stores Internet settings. Almost every website uses cookie technology. The cookie is downloaded by your Internet browser the first time you visit a website. The next time you visit this website from the same device, the cookie and the information in it are either sent back to the originating website (first-party cookies) or to another website to which it belongs (third-party cookies). By that, the website can detect that it has already been opened using this browser, and in some cases it will then vary the content it shows.

Cookies can't read data off your hard drive or cookie files created by other sites, and do not damage your system. However, you can reset your browser so as to refuse any cookie or to alert you to when a cookie is being sent. Web browsers allow you to control cookies stored on your hard drive through the web browser settings. To find out more about cookies, including what cookies have been set and how to manage and delete them, visit www.allaboutcookies.org.

Some cookies are extremely useful because they can improve your user experience when you return to a website you have already visited. This assumes that you are using the same device and the same browser as before; if so, cookies will remember your preferences, will know how you use the website, and will adapt the content you are shown so that it is more relevant to your personal interests and needs.

Categories of cookies

Based on what function cookies have and the purpose for which cookies are used, there are four categories of cookies:
1. Strictly necessary cookies
Are essential in order to enable you to move around the website and use its features. Without these cookies, some services cannot be provided: for example, remembering previous actions when navigating back to a page in the same session.
2. Performance cookies
Gather information about how a website is used: for example, which pages a visitor opens most often, and whether the user receives error messages from some pages. These cookies do not save information that would allow the user to be identified. The collected information is aggregated, and therefore anonymous. These cookies are used exclusively to improve the performance of the website, and with it the user experience.
3. Functional cookies
Enable a website to save information which has already been entered (such as user names, languages choices, and your location), so that it can offer you improved and more personalised functions. For example, a website can offer your local, price-relevant tax information if it uses a cookie to remember the region in which you are currently located. Functional cookies are also used to enable features you request such as playing videos. These cookies collect anonymous information and cannot track your movements on other websites.
4. Marketing cookies
Are used to deliver adverts and other communications more relevant to you and your interests. They are also used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement and to help measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. They remember whether you have visited a website or not, and this information can be shared with other organisations such as advertisers. Cookies for improving group targeting and advertising will often be linked to site functionality provided by other organisations.

Cookies used by the Adan website

Cookies on this website that do not require approval

Cookies that are essential, also known as 'strictly necessary' cookies, enable features without which you would not be able to use the website as intended. These cookies are used exclusively by Adan and are therefore known as first-party cookies. They are only saved on your computer while you are actually browsing the website. An example of why strictly necessary cookies are used is so that when you click on links on the Website, you receive a version of it which corresponds to the data volume which your current Internet connection can handle.

Another example of what these cookies do is facilitate a switch from "http" to "https" when you change pages, so that the security of data transmitted is maintained. Furthermore, a cookie of this kind is used to store your decision about the use of cookies on our website. Your consent is not required for the use of strictly necessary cookies. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled using the features of this website.

Analytics and site statistics

We also use these technologies to gather tracking information and statistics regarding use of the Websites. For example, we collect information about page visits and navigation to determine what articles and topics are of greatest interest and if users are able to find content easily. Likewise, we collect information about which articles and videos are viewed and whether videos are viewed in their entirety to determine what content is of most interest to users. We also use tracking information to generate various reports regarding use of the Websites. These reports contain aggregated information about users; if you are a Registered User, tracking information may be tied to your Account and your information as an individual Registered User.

How do we use your personal data?

We use your personal data to provide goods and services to you or your organisation, to let you know about other goods and services in which you may be interested in.

We may also use your personal data to carry out research about our visitors' and clients' demographics, interests and behaviour. We do this to better understand our visitors, clients and potential clients. This research is compiled and analysed on an aggregated and anonymous basis.

When you give us personal data, those data may be sent electronically to servers anywhere in the world and may be used, stored and processed anywhere in the world, including countries outside the European Economic Area.

Whenever and wherever we collect, process or use personal data, we take steps to ensure that it is treated securely and in accordance with our privacy policy.

Cookies in emails

As well as the cookies we use on our websites, we use cookies and similar technologies in some emails. These help us to understand whether you've opened an email and how you've interacted with it. If you have enabled images, cookies may be set on your computer or device. Cookies will also be set if you click on any link within the email. The types of cookies we use are:

Web beacons
Tiny, invisible images placed in emails to tell us whether you've opened them (and if so how often), how you interacted with them (for example the time you spent reading the email), which email software and web browser you used, which device you used and your IP address. We also use web beacons to help us display emails in the best format for your device.
Link tracking
Our emails contain a number of hyperlinks, each of which has a unique tag. When you click on one of these links the mailing company logs the click so that we can understand who has clicked through from an email to our website. We use this information to tailor future messages to you.Gather information about how a website is used: for example, which pages a visitor opens most often, and whether the user receives error messages from some pages.
Cookies
Our process for delivering emails may cause cookies to be set when you download images or when you click on a link.

Making choices about cookies

If you don't want to accept cookies from our emails, simply close the email before downloading any images or clicking on any links. You can also set your browser to restrict or reject cookies. These settings will apply to all cookies on websites and emails.

In some instances, depending on your email or browser settings, cookies in an email may be automatically accepted (for example, when you've added an email address to your address book or safe senders list). Please check your email browser or device instructions for more information on this.

How can you control and delete cookies?

If you want to restrict or block the cookies we set, you can do this through your browser settings. The 'help' function within your browser should tell you how. Alternatively, you could visit www.aboutcookies.org, which contains comprehensive information on cookies on a wide variety of browsers. You'll also find details on how to delete cookies from your computer. To learn about controlling cookies on the browser of your mobile device please refer to your handset manual.

There are several ways to manage cookies. You can:
+ set your browser to prevent cookies from being accepted. More information should be in your browser's "help" menu. How to adjust your browser will depend on which browser you're using.
+ set some browsers to send you an alert when a website is trying to place a cookie on your browser.
+ block cookies by activating the setting on your browser to refuse all or some cookies. However, if you use your browser settings to block all cookies including strictly necessary cookies, site access and features can be limited or not available.
+ delete cookies stored in your browser by "clearing cookies". This will only delete cookies already stored. It won't prevent new ones being accepted unless you change the acceptance settings. Also, clearing your cookies on one browser of one device does not automatically clear them on another. You need to clear all browsers on all devices, independently.
+ refuse specific cookies, by using that cookie's opt-out process, in the table at the end of this notice.

We are not responsible for the content or cookies from external websites. If you follow a link from our site to a third party site, they will have their own privacy and cookie notices.
